Commenting on the new charitable structure of Healthy Ambitions Suffolk, Dr. Peter Funnell, Executive Chair said that he and his colleagues are determined to encourage and support people to enjoy a healthy lifestyle.
“Suffolk is generally a pretty healthy county”, says Dr. Funnell, “but too many people still die early or experience long-term heart problems due to lifestyle issues such as poor diet and lack of exercise. Healthy Ambitions Suffolk is committed to address this in new and sustainable ways whilst recognising the current realities of public spending reductions”.
He added that the new Healthy Ambitions Suffolk Boards are composed of talented and enthusiastic local people offering insight and expertise across the business, public and third sectors.
At its first meeting, the new board resolved to develop the charity’s work over the next few months with an initial focus on helping local businesses to improve the health of employees.
“Having healthy staff means having a healthy business”, emphasised Dr. Funnell. “Our annual gold, silver and bronze business awards are already recognised across the county and we have recently introduced a new small business award for workplaces with less than 75 staff”.
Healthy Ambitions Suffolk is offering tailor-made packages of help to businesses of all sizes.
Dr Funnell concluded by saying that the new structure of Healthy Ambitions Suffolk will enable the organisation to attract funds and to focus resources to make Suffolk the healthiest county by 2028.
